April is Poetry Month!
And it's raining!
April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.
Langston Hughes
Think about:
Why does the poet use the word "kiss" in the first line?
What other human things does the rain do in this poem?
How do you feel about the rain at the end of the poem?
Watch the rain, or the wind, or birds or insects in your yard
or out of your window. Write down what you see.
